How to Pose Naturally if You're Camera-Shy

Your big day approaches, and with so many moving parts, we know that it can get a little stressful. The last thing we want is for pictures to be a part of that! You deserve to enjoy your special moments—not feel distracted trying to capture them. If you’re looking to make your photo session a little more effortless, you’ve come to the right place! These are our three top tips for posing naturally.

1. Start with movement. Staying still can allow your body to become a little stiff—so loosen up! Ask your photographer to capture you and your partner walking together, swaying,

slow dancing, anything where you let your body take over. Performing acts as simple and instinctual as walking creates genuine expressions and natural body language. In other words, you’ll be able to capture your candid beauty!

2. Trust your photographer’s guidance. Maybe you’ve heard a photographer ask someone to pretend they’ve stepped on a lego. As silly as the prompt sounds, it will automatically loosen that someone up and result in gorgeous, natural pictures! Your photographer will surely give you at least one or two seemingly silly directions, but it is in your best interest to just follow along. Their goal is to make you look

amazing. You don’t have to do any worrying—accepting their guidance is all you need to beautifully capture these special memories.

3. Bring your personality into it. This is your wedding, the photos are meant for you to look back on and enjoy! So feel free to add personal elements like inside jokes, hobbies, gestures that you naturally do—the more the real you shines through, the greater the authenticity of your pictures. Authentic photos will always be better than anything staged, and they’ll come with some special memories behind them.

If you’re still feeling a bit nervous, don’t worry. Camera-shyness is incredibly common, but it can also be overcome. The key to natural photos is connection, comfort, and trust. Focus on experiencing these moments, let your body lead the way, and allow your personality to shine through. After all, the best photos come from being yourself. Congratulations on beginning this exciting new season, and may every captured moment show just how much you cherished it.
